We found a gap in the Otago barbering scene and decided to do something about it. In June 2016, we set out to create a new experience. We wanted to create something that was a little bit different, a little bit fancy, but unashamedly Dunedin. Staying true to our heritage, it was only fitting to call our place Schaartje (Pronounced: Skaart-Yeh) meaning clippers in Dutch. After a long time searching for the perfect location to open a barbershop, we stumbled across the Standard Building, Beautifully restored by Ted Daniels and Wayne Marsh this building sets the scene for our extraordinary experience. Sourcing the most premium product suppliers to match our services was of paramount importance, we wanted to stay local and cruelty free. Naturally, New Zealand based Triumph & Disaster, was the obvious first choice.
